Our little dinosaur

Conner has finally realized he has a voice. Among his gurgles, babbles, and shouts, we also have his dinosaur noise. He ONLY does it when no one is watching, so I had to be pretty sneaky to get it on camera!

By the way, this is the same noise we wake up to every morning at 5:30am...

OMG let me sleep!

Conner took a nap a little over 2 hours long and woke up hungry. Normally his bottle is followed by playtime, but for some reason on this day he was NOT up for playing! I think he actually snarled at me at one point...

It's My Party...

My girlfriends surprised me with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate my birthday. It was a lot of fun! Here we are looking all fancy...

Special noises

Conner hasn't started laughing yet, but he does have his own special sound. If you listen very carefully to the video you will hear him start "gurgling" in happiness.

Halloween

Conner had a rough night on Halloween, lots of teething pain. Before it all started, though, we were able to get a few pics of his cute costume!

My friend Gina came over to help me greet the trick-or-treaters... Conner started getting pretty upset so we didn't hand out much candy before heading in!

Carving pumpkins

I got together with a few friends for a pumpkin carving night (hey, it can't ALL be about Conner)!

The girls decided to send "oo-rah" pics to their guys overseas... awww...

Then I turned the "oo" into a jack-o-lantern!

I caught a video of Conner rolling over! His knee was at a slight incline so it was a little easier to push, but it's still the first time he's done it!

2 month checkup

Conner's 2 month checkup was actually at 10 weeks. The doctor confirmed that he probably has silent reflux and recommended we switch to a soy formula. He now weighs 11 lbs, 13 oz! He's getting so big, we had to pack up his newborn clothes yesterday and break out the 0-3 month stuff. Awww...

Then we had to go to immunizations where he got his first set of shots. He was definitely a trooper, screamed when they stuck him and then settled into little whimpers and sobs once I picked him up. He kept whimpering all the way home until we snuggled in the rocking chair where he fell asleep. Poor little guy.

Check out these eyelashes! We have no idea where they came from, mine are decently long but nothing like this! I swear they get longer and thicker every day... I'm soooo jealous...

Conner's new boppy

If you don't know what a boppy is, it's a donut shaped pillow. Even though they are all the rage, we weren't planning to get one. However, they had one on sale the last time I was in the BX so I went ahead and got it thinking it'd be good for Conner to practice his lifting his head, and I was right! Check it out!

Oh, and we may need to get a second one... or else have extra covers on hand since it looks like someone else likes the boppy, too.

"Finding Nemo"

An excerpt from Finding Nemo as told by Michael in a cheerful, sing song voice at bedtime:

"The two fish swam after the mask into the deep, dark water... even though they were physically incapable of withstanding the pressures involved... They found the mask and read the address 'P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way, Sydney.' After an encounter with an angler fish, Marlin and Dory quickly swam away... even though rapid decompression would surely kill them, but only if they were lucky. If they weren't they would develop a condition called the bends where gas bubbles are released into their bloodstream and joints. If they were very unlucky, it would completely destroy their brains! They would be an empty, hollow, husk of a fish... living out the rest of their lives in pain and suffering. :)"

Conner doesn't feel good!

I called the pediatrician a few days ago because Conner has been acting super fussy from around 6-8pm every night. He cries and cries and it's so hard to make him feel better. He acts hungry but refuses to eat; he acts gassy but patting his back just doesn't help. The pediatrician told us to go ahead and come in to make sure it wasn't something serious.

Turns out he has colic. Which is good, because it's not serious and fairly common... but bad because there is nothing we can do about it. We just have to do our best to calm him down. We feel so bad for him because he's so upset! We are learning the tricks that distract him: skin to skin contact, walking up and down stairs, going outside and looking around... hopefully this will pass soon and we can have our calm baby back.

He's awake!

At around 5am this morning, Conner woke up with sad little sobs of loneliness. Once he was picked up and snuggling with me, he just stared around for all the world as if he realized for the first time that his eyes could see. It was so unusual for him to do that I had to get a video! Sorry it's a little dark, it WAS 5am in the morning! About 10 minutes after this was taken, he passed out again until his normal wake-up time of 7am.

Grandparent's visit

Well, Grandma and Grandpa Rodgers just left after a week-long visit. It was great having them here to help out, and I know Conner enjoyed all the extra cuddling! We were sad to see them go, mostly because that means everything is down to Michael and I again, which is a little scary, but we can do it!

Shadow was very curious about this whole being on the floor thing. It was pretty funny to watch him kneel down and watch Conner as he tried to figure out what was going on.

Lucky didn't even notice the baby on his back. Literally... he slept right through this.

He says he couldn't resist...
